    SAIL 2010 went off without a hitch. Yesterday, Dansi Nautica! closed the cultural programme with a festive performance on the main stage. The last tall ships left the IJ harbour Monday morning to set out for sea once again. Dismantling work along the quays has already begun.

  • SAIL-IN parade puts Amsterdam and the Netherlands on the international nautical map

    The SAIL-IN Parade is the traditional opening ceremony for the largest public event in the Netherlands: SAIL Amsterdam. Over 50 tall ships (A/B class), 6 naval ships, 4 replicas, hundreds of boats from the Dutch Sailing Heritage fleet and a few striking modern yachts will sail in formation through the North Sea Canal from IJmuiden to Amsterdam. Thousands of ships will accompany the procession on its way to mooring places along the IJ river. From their positions on the masts and yards, the crews will greet the public which has turned out in large numbers to welcome the ships. The images of this unique entrance will go all over the world and firmly put the Netherlands and Amsterdam on the map as a nautical nation.

  • SAIL 2010: Grand nautical and cultural spectacle on and around the IJ river

    With 100 days remaining before SAIL Amsterdam 2010, the preparations are in full swing. In addition to an impressive survey of talls ships from all over the world, the eighth edition of SAIL offers an extensive nautical and cultural programme for young and old. Various new activities will take place both on the water and on the quays. The tall ships as well as all activities and performances are free to the public.
